Businesses in Tauranga are relieved to have escaped the red traffic light heading into the region's busy summer season.
From Friday the city and the western Bay of Plenty will be in the orange light under the new Covid-19 protection framework, while many neighbouring regions will be in the red.
The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the current settings will be reviewed in two weeks and then on 17 January the but it is unlikely that anywhere will move to green during the summer break.
