Steve Bannon, who was an advisor to former president Donald Trump, surrendered to the FBI overnight and was to stand in court today after refusing to co-operate with an investigation into the deadly January 6 attack on the Capitol.
Bannon was due to face the rarely-seen charge of contempt of congress.
The committee investigating the attack believes he could have information on links between the White House and Trump supporters involved in the riot.
