A duck named Wrinkle gave competitors in the 50th New York City marathon a run for their money this week.
Wrinkle won the hearts of spectators around the world when she spontaneously joined a stream of runners in her custom neoprene sneakers.
Wrinkle is a smart, well-trained city duck who knows how to safely cross at the lights, according to her adopted parents Justin Wood and Joyce Kung.
When the couple took Wrinkle down to watch the marathon runners, she got caught up in the spirit, Justin says.
"She saw everyone running and she wanted to join in so we just hopped in there for a little bit and ran with them."
Wrinkle already has her own Tik Tok and Instagram accounts, but marathon participation has taken her fame to a whole new level, Joyce says.
The custom shoes are essential for her running career as duck's feet are very delicate, adds Justin.
He and Joyce are now fundraising to turn their duck shoe design into a commercial product.
