Expert panel reccomends Defence Force improve information sharing with Ministry

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 16 November 2021

The Defence Force has been told to plug gaps in its organisational structure and improve the way it shares information.

The expert panel, set up just over a year ago following the Operation Burnham inquiry, recommends strengthening the integration between the Defence Force and Minister of Defence - and between the Special Air Service with the wider organisation.

The panel also found that a lack of clear guidance on knowledge-sharing has led to a culture of persistent over-classification of information.

Chief of Defence Force Air Marshal Kevin Short spoke to Susie Ferguson.
