There's growing anger from Northlanders over delays to funding that have left Whangārei hospital falling apart.
Despite repairs ramping up in the past five years, the hospital roofs leak in heavy rain, windows have fallen off the surgical wing and lifts have broken down with bedridden patients inside.
Now sewage is seeping into the walls of the medical wing.
The Northland District Health Board says the leaking piping will take two years to fix, costing $2.8 million, because it is surrounded by asbestos.
Sam Olley filed this report from Whangārei.
