Covid-19: Auckland business chamber on lockdown easing

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 9 November 2021

After nearly three months in lockdown, Auckland business owners are breathing a sigh of relief, sort of.

From 11.59 on Tuesday, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3, step 2 - allowing retail to reopen with restrictions, and outdoor gatherings can also grow in size.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also announced she expects the city will ease into the traffic light system from December - and that a decision on exactly when will be made on 29 November.

Auckland Business Chamber chief executive Michael Barnett thinks business is also scratching its head at the latest government announcement on how their city might emerge from months of lockdown.
