Tenant allowed to refuse level 3 viewing - Tenancy Tribunal

From Morning Report, 8:50 am on 5 November 2021

The Tenancy Tribunal has dismissed a landlord's claim that his tenant was unreasonable to refuse viewings of his Auckland apartment due to Covid-19 risks.

The landlord put his leasehold apartment up for sale but prospective buyers couldn't physically access it as the tenant said no.

The Residential Tenancies Act states a landlord may enter a premise to show it to prospective buyers if the tenant consents, but they can reasonably withhold consent.

For legal reasons, the tenant and landlord in this story aren't identified.
