Democrats have been defeated in Virginia, raising serious questions over the future of the party in Congress.
Glenn Youngkin's surprise victory over the Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the race for governor of Virginia comes after President Joe Biden twice went to the state to campaign for McAuliffe.
Biden had also won the state in the 2020 election by 10 percentage points.
This could point to trouble for next year's congressional elections and the future of the President's policy agenda.
