Horse training legend Bill Pomare will today fulfill a lifelong dream of having a runner in the Melbourne Cup, six-year-old gelding Ocean Billy.
Australia's most famous annual Thoroughbred horse race is going ahead with 10,000 fans allowed into Flemington - after no crowds were allowed at the event last year.
But due to Covid-19 restrictions Pomare can't be there to watch the race, instead settling for a live screening at his Rotorua farm with friends and family.
Pomare spoke to Susie Ferguson.
