Shops, museums and libraries in Auckland are on track to re-open next week.
Cabinet has agreed in principle to move the region to alert level 3 step 2 at 11.59pm on Tuesday 9 November, allowing retail and public buildings to open.
In making the decision, it considered both public health advice and an Auckland perspective from the region's public health officials.
Auckland's Mayor Phil Goff says given the high vaccination rate, an easing of restrictions makes sense.
