Thousands of people arrested over the roles in Myanmar anti-coup protests will reportedly be freed in what the ruling military says is an amnesty on humanitarian grounds.
State media is reporting more than 5000 prisoners will be released in the country where a democratically elected government was deposed by the Junta in a February coup.
Several hundred detainees have been freed this week from Yangon's notorious Insein Prison but some activists say it is merely a ploy to rebuild Myanmar's reputation after being excluded from an upcoming south-east Asian summit.
