The government has been engaging with gang leadership to promote Covid-19 vaccines and testing.
The Covid-19 Response Minister said yesterday that the fact a large number of gang members have been caught up in the latest outbreak has made it more challenging to manage.
Associate Health Minister, Peeni Henare, told Morning Report officials are working with leaders to ensure gang members stick to the Covid-19 rules.
"We've been engaged with the game leadership to make sure that we can support vaccination rollout, testing and adhering to the rules."
Henare says broadly speaking, the gangs are playing their part.
