Nearly 40 religious leaders from across the globe have presented an appeal at the Vatican for politicians to agree to tougher commitments to combat global warming at the upcoming UN climate summit.
The meeting, held overnight NZ time - also saw faith leaders pledge to promote ecological education in their own communities and support "greening" their institutions and investments.
