Residential special schools funded for extra enrolments

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 4 October 2021

The country's three residential special schools are costing taxpayers between $300,000 and almost a million dollars a child each year.

That's because the schools are half empty but are being funded for a lot more enrolments than they actually have.

The schools fear they are being deliberately starved of students and the government has asked the Education Ministry to explain what's going on.
