As health authorities battle to bring the Covid-19 outbreak under control, the focus for testing has turned to Aucklanders in emergency housing.
Cases spiked to 45 yesterday and the Health Ministry says a large proportion of them are connected with transitional housing.
There are fears the virus could take off in those communities if it's not brought under control quickly.
Janet Masoe-Hundel leads a team of testers from Pacific health and welfare provider The Fono who have been swabbing close contacts of people with Covid-19 who are isolating in their homes.
She told health correspondent Rowan Quinn 90 percent of them in the past week have been in emergency or temporary housing - and many are frightened.
