A week after Thomas Phillips and his children went missing, Otorohanga District Mayor Max Baxter says hopes of finding them alive are dwindling.
The search has scaled back to focus on the coastline, and police continue to work alongside search and rescue volunteers.
Baxter told reporter Amy Williams the community is still rallying around each other, as the search enters day 10, but this stage of the search feels tough.
