Waste plan worries rural Manawatu landowners

Landowners in Manawatu are anxious their plots will be swept up in plans for the country's largest wastewater-to-land treatment system.

So called highly productive land is caught up in the Palmerston North city council's proposal to discharge treated wastewater onto between 760 and 2000 hectares.

But, despite council making a decision on September 15, it's still not clear which residents will be affected - and if they're even part of the Palmerston North catchment.
