If it sounds like a duck and walks like a duck...but what if it talks like a person?
A recording has been unearthed of an Australian musk duck imitating speech - specifically "you bloody fool" - which he "said" during aggressive mating displays.
This is the first documented instance of ducks being able to mimic sounds, a new study claims.
Retired Australian researcher Dr Peter Fullagar first recorded the sounds more than three decades ago, but the recordings have now been resurfaced by Professor Carel ten Cate of Leiden University in the Netherlands.
He spoke to Susie Ferguson.
