Ashley Bloomfield was on waiting on advice as to what options they can offer the 732 people who were vaccinated at Highbrook on the 12 July after an error involving the Covid-19 vaccine.
An extra vial of vaccine was discovered at the centre at the end of the day on, and the Ministry has admitted it's possible five people got a shot that was mostly harmless saline rather than the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.
The problem did not become public until reporting from RNZ on Wednesday.
Bloomfield told Morning Report it was always the plan to tell those affected, but they just wanted some more advice first.
