Covid-19: Te Paati Māori worried about mandatory record keeping

Te Paati Māori is worried about data privacy and low trust among communities, following the Government decision to mandate record keeping of the public's movements. 

Cabinet has decided to make it mandatory to keep a record or to scan QR codes for most businesses and events at all alert levels to help contact tracing efforts. 

Te Paati Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer told political reporter Anneke Smith that there is low smart phone ownership in her community. 

And she says there is suspicion among Māori about data collection.
