Former Kiwi soldier on Afghanistan Taliban resurgence

From Morning Report, 7:24 am on 17 August 2021

A decorated former kiwi soldier says he's proud of New Zealand's contribution to the war in Afghanistan and says it will ultimately prove worthwhile if the crisis-hit country can find peace.

More than 3500 defence staff were deployed there across a span of 20 years.

Ten were killed while on service - two died during the "Battle of Baghak" in the Bamyan Province in August, 2012, and another six were wounded, including Craig Wilson, who was a senior officer.

New Zealand Gallantry decoration recipient Craig Wilson spoke to Corin Dann.
