The number of houses for sale under $300,000 in New Zealand is dropping by the month.
Kaikohe, in Northland, is one of the last places you can find them.
The median price there was $291,000 last month but that was a 22 percent increase on last year.
Real estate agent Sandra Robinson says the homes are being sold in less than a week, often by overjoyed first home buyers, but that's meaning heartbreak for Kaikohe renters.
She spoke to reporter Sam Olley.
