High power demand forces blackouts in some areas

Thousands of New Zealanders had their power cut off last night on one of the coldest nights of the year.

It wasn't a power cut, but a deliberate rolling blackout to manage electricity demand which had reached an all-time high.

Transpower's general manager Stephen Jay spoke to Corin Dann.
