Covid-19: Scramble to evaluate risk at Port of Tauranga

Health officials are scrambling to determine the risk to the public after more than 90 stevedores worked on a ship carrying crew later found to be infected with Covid-19.

More than half of the people on board the vessel Rio De La Plata, which was berthed at the Port of Tauranga for four days, have tested positive the virus.

Flip flopping advice from officials meant port staff worked on the ship for four days before they were told to isolate and get tested.
