Greenpeace says despite all the promises the dairy industry makes about cleaning up their act, emissions continue to rise.
Stats NZ figures show greenhouse gas emissions from dairy farms increased more than three percent in the most recent year.
But the industry says it uses Ministry for the Environment figures, which show a half a percent fall in emissions solely from dairy cows, not the total farm emissions.
Greenpeace spokesperson Steve Abel told reporter Jordan Bond the dairy industry is the country's biggest carbon emitter, and is unrepentant about that.
