From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 29 July 2021

Rocket Lab is due to launch a US Space Force satellite from the Mahia Peninsula today.

The mission to send an experimental research and development satellite into low Earth orbit is in partnership with the US's Department of Defence.

The launch was originally slated for lift-off from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on NASA's Wallops Island in Virginia.

It has been moved to near Gisborne while NASA adjusts its launch software at the spaceport.

New Zealand Space Agency head Peter Crabtree spoke to Susie Ferguson.
