Capitol police officers give graphic testimony on riots

From Morning Report, 7:50 am on 28 July 2021

Four police officers who faced attacks and racial slurs as they defended the US Capitol Building in the January riot there have given graphic testimony before the House of Representatives.

It was the first hearing before the congressional committee set up to investigate the attack by a mob of supporters trying to overturn the election loss of then-President Donald Trump.

Black officer Harry Dunn described how he was confronted with racial abuse by the mob.

Washington correspondent Giles Gibson spoke to Corin Dann.
