Covid-19: Modeller expects NSW restrictions to increase even further

A decision will be made today about whether the entire trans-Tasman travel-bubble will be closed.

Cabinet convened a special virtual meeting yesterday to discuss the pause, and its decision about what to do will be revealed in a few hours.

This comes as more than half of Australia is under lockdown due to multiple outbreaks of the Delta variant of Covid-19. New South Wales premier Gladys Berejiklian says she expects to see cases increase even further.

Fiji is suffering from ever more Covid-19 deaths, including two pregnant women. The country has had a week in which the daily figure of cases has topped 1000.

Fiji now has more than 15,000 active cases in isolation. It has recorded 146 deaths, 144 of them from the latest outbreak that began in April.
