Napier's National Aquarium told to improve standards or close

From Morning Report, 7:35 am on 22 July 2021

The National Aquarium is being told that unless it can improve standards, the facility may have to close and the animals put down.

Napier City Council - which owns and manages the aquarium - wants a $77.5 million upgrade but says the government won't help pay.

It admits animal welfare standards are struggling to be met.
