From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 21 July 2021

Jeff Bezos, the world's richest man, has finally achieved his childhood dream of launching himself into space.

The New Shepherd launched at about 1.10am NZ time, returning to earth a total of ten minutes and ten seconds later.

The launch, by Bezos' company Blue Origin, launched Bezos, his brother Mark Bezos, aviator Wally Funk and eighteen-year-old Oliver Daemen into the cosmos.

After landing safely back to Earth, Jeff Bezos could be heard saying inside the capsule that it was the "best day ever".
