A severe 7.1 earthquake strikes off the East Cape at 2.27 this morning waking many people across the country, large numbers evacuate to higher ground on the Cape and in surrounding regions, a Tsunami warning was issued for most of the east Coast of the country and the Chatham Islands after a second large earthquake off the Kermadec Islands - breaking news, reaction and expert comment right through the programme.
