Farmers planning massive protest against regulations

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 16 July 2021

Thousands of farmers are expected to demonstrate in over 50 towns and cities across the country at midday today to protest at recent environmental regulations and a seasonal workers' shortage in the horticultural sector.

They're calling for the scrapping of the government's clean car package, dubbed the 'ute tax', as well as national policy statements on freshwater management and indigenous biodiversity.

National convener of the protests today and Groundswell NZ co-founder Bryce McKenzie spoke to Philippa Tolley.
