UK slashes foreign aid budget by four million pounds

The UK has slashed its foreign aid by more than four billion pounds a year for the foreseeable future.

MPs voted narrowly this morning in favour of the cut - from 0.7 of the country's GDP, to 0.5 percent - which comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson narrowly saw off an attempt by Tory rebels to block it.

It is estimated the cut will lead to 100,000 deaths and millions facing malnutrition.

Corin Dann Professor Melissa Leach who is Director of the UK-based Institute of Development Studies, who said the impact of the cuts will be enormous.
