From Morning Report, 6:50 am on 25 June 2021

The plaudits continue to flow for the Black Caps cricketers, more than 24 hours after being crowned winners of the inaugural World Test Championship.

Following their eight-wicket triumph against India in Southampton, most international media pronounced Kane Williamson's New Zealand side deserved winners.

They were joined by some former greats.

Former India master batsman Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter, describing, the Black Caps as the superior team in the six-day final.

He received more than 700 replies, many from Indians lamenting the performance of their own side.

The man acknowledged as New Zealand's finest, pace bowler Sir Richard Hadlee, said in a statement that his country's current team was the best they have ever fielded - and the complete playing unit.

Black Caps bowling coach Shane Jurgensen told RNZ's Joe Porter what's it been like for the team over the past 24 hours.
