Former Black Caps captain on cricket win

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 24 June 2021

The Black Caps have been crowned World Test cricket Champions, after an 8-wicket win against India this morning in Southampton.

New Zealand was led to victory by the two most senior batsmen in the team - with Ross Taylor scoring the winning runs, and captain Kane Williamson at the other end of the pitch.

Williamson, who scored an unbeaten 52, told Sky Sport this morning's win was one of the biggest moments in New Zealand cricket history.

The rain-affected match had been looking like it would be drawn but our bowlers skittled India for just 170 runs in their second innings, setting up the prospect of a result.

Southee and Boult got 7 of the ten wickets. Kyle Jamieson was named man of the match, after taking seven wickets in the match.

He dismissed India's dangermen Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara overnight in successive overs.

Jamieson told Sky Sport it's great to win a World title and to do it in the longest form of the game is even better.
