Southern councils not happy to lose roading money

Southerners feel like they're paying the price for the Government's $800 million Northern Pathway project.

Councils around the country are having to cut back on planned spending after $420 million of expected Waka Kotahi funding over the next three years was pulled.

Councils in the south say there's no fat to trim and this may cost lives.
