New Zealanders arrive home after Melboune stranding

From Morning Report, 7:12 am on 10 June 2021

Auckland Airport was filled with relieved homecomers last night with the first flight arriving from Melbourne in over two weeks.

All flights to New Zealand from Melbourne were suspended on 25 May, initially for just 72 hours, but stranded New Zealanders got more than they bargained for.

The first one since arrived on Wednesday night, with passengers able to walk off and avoid a two-week quarantine.

The New Zealand government will announce whether the travel bubble will reopen, or remain deflated on Thursday as Melbourne looks to ease its restrictions.
