Second Harbour Crossing coming for walkers and cyclists

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 4 June 2021

The Transport Minister has confirmed the government will build a second Auckland harbour bridge exclusively for cyclists and walkers.

Michael Wood says the standalone structure will be built as part of the $12 billion New Zealand Upgrade Programme announced earlier this year.

The decision comes less than a week after cyclists blocked two lanes of the Auckland Harbour bridge, calling for a trial of a cycle lane on the bridge.

Transport Minister Michael Wood spoke to Philippa Tolley.
