In the UK, Boris Johnson's former aide, Dominic Cummings has claimed thousands of people died needlessly as a result of government incompetence in the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During a seven-hour session of the Commons Heath, and Science and Technology committees, Cummings made a number of allegations - including that the government was catastrophically slow to lock down, and that the country's Health Secretary lied on multiple occasions.
