Waikato DHB cyber attack: Collins backing ransom refusal

From Morning Report, 7:24 am on 26 May 2021

Seriously ill cancer patients could end up being sent to Australia for treatment as the Waikato DHB continues to try and get back online after last week's cyber attack.

Currently they are being sent to private hospitals in Tauranga and Wellington for treatment because the cyber attack has put radiotherapy equipment out of action but spaces are limited.

The DHB's Hospital and Community Services director, Chris Lowry, says clinical staff are worried about how to handle new referrals.

National Party leader Judith Collins spoke to Corin Dann about her take on the events.
