Waikato DHB cyber attack: Resident Doctors Association appalled by chance of data leak

From Morning Report, 6:38 am on 26 May 2021

The Resident Doctors' Association is appalled by what appears to be a significant breach of Waikato DHB data.

A group claiming responsibility for a ransomware attack against the DHB claim they have obtained highly sensitive patient and staff data.

They've emailed that data to media organisations, including RNZ.

Deborah Powell spoke to political reporter Katie Scotcher about how upsetting this is for staff and patients.

RNZ has referred the email to the police and digitally confined the information, which it won't be publishing.
