CPAG wants obligations for beneficiary parents lifted

The Child Poverty Action Group is questioning why the government isn't acting faster to remove a benefit sanction that isn't even being enforced.

Parents on the benefit have to meet several social obligations, such as having their child in school or enrolled with a doctor.

But not one has ever had their payment cut for failing to comply and the Ministry of Social Development says the time spent checking could be better spent helping beneficiaries find jobs.
