Retired supermarket worker blames pharmacies for danger

From Morning Report, 6:51 am on 19 May 2021

A recently retired supermarket worker with more than 40 years experience, believes adding pharmacies to stores has increased the danger faced by staff.

Anne Coulthard has worked in supermarkets in New Zealand and Australia.

One of her former Dunedin colleagues is among the victims of the stabbing attack at a Countdown last week, which happened near the store's pharmacy.

She told reporter Anan Zaki she began to notice a rise in angry customers when supermarkets started to phase out plastic bags.
