Documents show the Education Ministry praised Hutt Valley High School for being well maintained and "in good shape" just two years after it was warned classrooms were being run down.
Five hundred senior students are currently spending half of the school week at home because of mould-ridden buildings.
The documents released under the OIA also show the ministry acknowledged having 'shoddy' communications and not keeping the school in the loop.
