Health system problems can't wait until reforms - Doctors

Doctors say massive staffing shortages and long waiting lists need immediate critical funding - and the health system can't wait until promised reforms.

The initial cost estimate for the government's health revolution - which ditches district health boards and creates a new Maori authority - is expected to be revealed in Thursday's budget.

While most in health welcome the changes, they say there are more pressing needs.
