Countdown stabbing: Man charged with attempted murder

A 42-year-old man has been charged by police following yesterday's stabbing at a Countdown supermarket in central Dunedin.

He is expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court this morning.

Two supermarket workers and two shoppers were injured in the unprovoked attack.

Three people were taken to hospital in a critical condition and underwent surgery last night.

A fourth person suffered moderate injuries. The two countdown workers who underwent surgery are doing well.

An update on the other two patients is expected later today.
