It will be months before senior students at Hutt Valley High School are back in the classroom fulltime after being forced out because of toxic mould.
The Education Ministry fronted up to some angry parents, staff and students last night to answer questions about the appalling state of school's main block which is now off limits and slated for demolition.
Officials were challenged to admit that school maintenance funding is inadequate.
