Fish & Game review lists 35 ways to fix it

From Morning Report, 8:43 am on 28 April 2021

A scathing independent review of Fish & Game New Zealand lists 35 ways to fix it.

The investigation was ordered last year by the former Minister for Conservation, Eugenie Sage, following a series of scandals and suggestions the organisation is no longer fit for purpose.

The reviewers have found Fish & Game, which manages fishing and bird shooting around the country, lacks good governance at all levels, in particular with the management of conflicts of interest.

Former CEO Martin Taylor has called it "dysfunctional" and "ineffective".

Fish & Game chair Ray Grubb spoke to Susie Ferguson.
