NZ Rugby set to vote on Silver Lake deal

From Morning Report, 8:53 am on 27 April 2021

New Zealand Rugby's self described "transformational" deal with Silver Lake will be voted on this week at NZR's AGM in Wellington.

However, it remains unclear if the $460 million investment proposal will come to fruition.

The NZ Rugby Players Association and NZR are in mediation after the players association threatened to block the deal in which NZ Rugby will sell 15% of their commercial rights to the US investment company.

NZ Rugby needs the players association's approval and the majority of provincial unions to vote in favour of the deal to get it it across the line.

Rugby reporter Joe Porter reports.
