NZ rugby on very of selling equity to Silver Lake

From Morning Report, 8:39 am on 23 April 2021

New Zealand Rugby is on the verge of selling fifteen per cent of its commercial rights to a US investment company, Silver Lake. The deal is expected to be announced next week if NZ Rugby secures the vote of more than half the country's provincial unions at its annual meeting. It also needs to secure support from the New Zealand Rugby Players Association. But how would such a deal work? There are some who say this week's ill-fated proposal of a European football Super League points to the sort of direction the All Blacks could be pulled in by an investor wanting to maximise returns.
